'Field Maple' stud earrings - sunflowers

A true underdog of the forest, these small maples have been growing alongside us since neolithic times. Steeped in history and superstition, these trees have traditionally been used to remove unwanted spells, and its hard wood centre and corky bark help to create stunning wooden crafts.

The Field Maple is the UK's only native maple tree, and supports a huge variety of insects in all their life stages. A fantastic source of pollen during summer and stunning colours in autumn, the seeds also have 'wings' stretching out either side which flutter and swirl to the ground and provide food for small mammals.

Each stud is a single hand-cut slice of a small field maple branch, with a stainless steel earring post secured with resin for durability and ease of cleaning, and secured with a silicone earring back. The wood has been lightly sanded and sealed with a matte varnish for protection so that each piece shows the natural beauty of the wood - blemishes and all!

Each piece will vary as the corky bark creates many patterns along the branch, so 3 overall styles have been created from the small batch of field maple harvested this year - 'sunflowers', 'tiny flowers' and 'stars'.

The 'sunflower' style studs measure approximately 2cm in width.

The colour of the hard wood centre will vary depending on the speed of the blade during slicing, and will vary from a light golden brown to a dark walnut-brown. Each pair compliment each other, but may vary if multiple pairs are purchased.

This item will arrive on a recyclable unbleached paper-based display card as standard.
If gift wrapping is selected, the items will arrive in a recyclable unbleached paper-based box with a sponge insert, wrapped in tissue paper, and sealed with a sticker. Please reuse or recycle packaging wherever possible.
